Center for Visual Arts The Center for Visual Arts showcases local and regional artists in the gallery and gift shop, and offers classes for both children and adults. Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum offers artworks from every corner of the world through diverse changing exhibitions which vary from 8-10 per year. Best known is the internationally acclaimed Birds in Art, an annual juried exhibition that showcases a variety of artistic styles – from impressionism to satirical caricature – created by artists the world over and documented in a full-color catalogue. The museum hosts many weekly courses for children and parents such as Toddler Tuesday, Art Time for Tots, Art Buddies, Art Explorers, Foundations, and Activity Guides are supplemented with storytelling, lectures, videos, demonstrations, and bus trips. Also not to be missed are the summertime Concerts in the Garden and OctoBIRDfest, the Museum’s biggest family festival of the year.

Parks and Recreation
Nine Mile Forest
Nine Mile Forest Heavily wooded trail offers unique blend of forest types and scenic views. Beginner to expert. Track & skate skiing available. One lighted 4 mile x-country ski trail available. Except for special events, the modern chalet building at the trailhead isn't open during the biking season. The trails at Nine Mile Forest have been favorites of cross-country skiers for decades. Mountain bikers love this easy-to-get-to trail system too; great riding, and just a few miles off I-39. Over the years, local enthusiasts have laid out nearly a dozen miles of single-track trail adding even more fun. Eleven loops of single-track offer riding from mild to wild.

Rib Mountain State Park
This 1,480 acre park is an excellent place to adventure into Wausau’s great outdoors in any season! With over 15 miles of trails, including hiking, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing trails, as well as trails accessible to handicapped patrons, this massive park has lots to discover. Also found on the park grounds are two concession stands, two playgrounds, a reservable amphitheater and 70 picnic tables. This is also one of the best places in the state to see wild turkeys and other birds, as well as deer, foxes, raccoons, woodchucks, rabbits, and squirrels.
